Advanced Fiction Writing: High School (Summer 2025)

$200.00

The confidence to write comes from a combination of knowledge and practice. The Wordshop’s five-afternoon Advanced Fiction Writing camp can help with the knowledge: character creation, world building, pacing, plot construction, etc. The accompanying discussion and writing exercises will have your fingers itching to get stories on paper or keyboard when you get home.

You already know the basics of writing fiction; we’ll dive deep into the why and how of good story and great writing. We’ll look at examples from the authors we love, discuss the things we don’t like, and dig deep into the differences between drafts, revisions, and edits. Advanced Fiction Writing is all about learning, making mistakes, and moving forward (with a backed-up copy in hand).

This is an excellent class for aspiring novelists, short story writers, and anyone who wants to sharpen their fiction skills.

Open to rising 9th-12th graders.

Dates: June 23-27, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
