Rock That Revision (Fall 2025)

$130.00

Anyone who has written with Mrs. Kristin has heard it at least once: “Nobody in the world is a good writer. Not Stephen King, not Margaret Atwood, not Rick Riordan. They’re great revisers.”

Like anything else, revision is a skill that takes practice. Instruction helps, as does a second opinion and some encouragement along the way. Rock That Revision provides all of that over the course of two low-contact, self-paced months.

Step 1: Instruction! We’ll meet for an in-person class on Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m.–noon.

Step 2: Email your rough draft of choice to Mrs. Kristin by Friday, October 3.

Step 3: Schedule a private meeting with Mrs. Kristin. You can use it to discuss your proposed revisions or do a check-in during the revision process.

Step 4: Revise and write, write and revise on your own. Finish your revisions by Monday, December 1.

Step 5. Let’s party. We’ll celebrate a successful season of revising with a pizza party at The Wordshop on Saturday, December 6 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. We’ll talk about what we learned, what we struggled with, and what we nailed. Students are welcome to share excerpts of their work.

I’ll be checking in on the writers along the way. Add on Novel Support Group sessions to ensure they have writing time every week!

Open to 8th–12th graders.
