Fantastic Voyage: Writing Fantasy Rising 7th-12th grades (Summer 2025)

$200.00
Sold Out

Pack your adventure sack** for a week of world building, character creation, and out-of-this-world storylines as we tackle our favorite genre: fantasy! Whether you’re into dragons and castles or lean more toward magical dark academia, there’s something for everyone in this class. We’ll take a historical spin through famous fantasy stories of the past, figure out why the stories we love work so well, and spend plenty of time brainstorming and writing our own work. We’ll also touch on the genres that go together with fantasy like peanut butter and jelly: dystopia, science fiction, and fairy tales.

If you solely write fantasy, great! If this is your first time, perfect! And if you write mostly realistic fiction with just a few fantastical elements thrown in for fun, you’re in great company: that’s what Mrs. Kristin writes, too.

Open to rising 7th–12th graders.

Dates: July 7–11, 1:30–3:30 p.m.

** An adventure sack is a very specific type of bag carried by one of The Wordshop’s earliest and favorite fantasy characters, Cooper the Troll.
